4) Is there any problem with this being the same directory that syncs to github and bitbucket? *Edit: The solution seems to be to 1) erase the extra space in the first line and 2) repalce the $ with PYTHONPATH in the second line, i.e.

to adjust ~/.bash_profile to have the following line: I had a similar problem a while ago.

On Sep 16, *am, cnb ['C:\\Python25\\Progs\\Nat Lang Proc', 'C:\\Python25\\Lib\\idlelib', 'C:\ \Windows\\system32\\python25.zip', 'C:\\Python25\\lib\\site-packages\ \orange', 'C:\\Python25\\lib\\site-packages\\orange\\Orange Widgets', 'C:\\Python25\\lib\\site-packages\\orange\\Orange Canvas', 'C:\ \Python25\\DLLs', 'C:\\Python25\\lib', 'C:\\Python25\\lib\\plat-win', 'C:\\Python25\\lib\\lib-tk', 'C:\\Python25', 'C:\\Python25\\lib\\site- packages', 'C:\\Python25\\lib\\site-packages\\Numeric', 'C:\\Python25\ \lib\\site-packages\\PIL'] You have: c:/python/progs/abc/c:/python/progs/abc/c:/python/progs/def/c:/python/progs/def/__init__in progs * (empty...) __init__in abc __init__in def c:/python/site-packages/lib/*which contains: c:/python/progs/ You don't need the subdirectories.

The reason for the trouble is design decision from Microsoft.

Use "C:/Python25/Progs" instead of "C:/Python25/Progs/". The low level stat() syscall returns an error for "C:\\Python25\\Progs\\" but it returns success for "C:\\Python25\\Progs". -----Original Message----- From: Aaron "Castironpi" Brady [mailto:ca********@gmail.com] Sent: Tuesday, September 16, 2008 PM To: py*********@Subject: Re: How do I add permanently to Pythons sys.path?

The error message is indicating that the problem lies in the space in the directory path - the bash_profile is being truncated by the space and it is splitting the path into 2.
